People come into therapy for lots of different reasons. Sometimes because of the way we are feeling inside and sometimes because of circumstances outside our control. Therapy offers a safe space to think about this. In the intial assessment you can expect to be asked for your definition of the problem that has brought you to therapy, as well as your ideas about when the problem started, what helps to maintain it and what is happening differently when the problem seems less worrisome and seemingly has less detrimental impact on your life. I am a therapist who is curious and asks a lot of questions, believing firmly in the co creation of meaning and increased understanding through on going conversations, in and out of the therapy room.
